Aitor Ortiz Photographer KM outlined in their "visual constructions"

El artista bilbaíno reúne en ‘GAP Espacio latente’ thirty recent works. The exhibition will be installed in the room until the next 28 March:

DV. El fotógrafo Aitor Ortiz (Bilbao, 1971) Koldo Center Mitxelena returns seven years after his participation in the pooled sample chamber Painting, building a collection of photographs that capture fleeting moments in the lives of several buildings.

_mg_8294
The sample, GAPEspacio called Latent and will remain installed until 28 March, meets 31 black and white photographs and five pieces of sculpture bordering, all made in the last seven years working. "Even if photographs, understood as a support plane, I call-notes more visual constructions Ortiz-. I use photography as a generator of scenes. The creation process is more like a painter or someone who builds a picture of someone who documents this image ".
Ortiz's work focuses on collecting some of the views from a building at a time disappear, either because it was captured during construction or because it has been for its demolition. This is the case of the integrated works in the series Amorfosis.
"The intention is to convey a sense of ephemeral architecture, namely, photographing an intermediate process in which you do not know if the item is being constructed or destroyed, but at the very moment when the picture is taken is very specific configuration, but that is not the definitive ", says the artist.
Several of the works that Ortiz has collected in this sample, created specifically for the exhibition hall of Koldo Mitxelena and does not plan shown as an itinerant, invite the viewer to join them, given three-dimensional format. "In these parts is very important to the viewer's experience and scale to take over the work".
His work as a photographer in several custom construction Ortiz has allowed access to these urban landscapes, in any case, are completely out of context for the viewer Gipuzkoa, even if the images obtained in San Sebastian. "The work of architectural photography help me find the locations and then intervene and spaces to photograph my own work".
Scale and distance
As for the choice of black and white, Aitor Ortiz said that responds to an attempt "to distance myself from the description of these buildings originally. We live in a society as mediated who immediately try to find a reality applicable to any object. Distance using the black and white helps me to perceive the works with another pause ".
Photographer Bilbao is particularly careful to ensure that their works are offered at a certain scale for the room of KM. "Elsewhere, these works would not have had this scale. In this room, some require some monumental works to be perceived as a building ".
The common thread running through all the works of the exhibition is the crack, that GAP title of the exhibition, "The cut is repeated throughout the exhibition as part of the rift between the language of photography and architecture". In terms of space lantente, "Is determined by your experience in the space".
This is reflected in the piece made in aluminum tubes, whose interior is lined with photographs of the same material, and forming a large sculpture star of one of the central areas of the room Mitxelena Koldo.

- Why 'Route 40′?

- I was fascinated to know this area of the world, Argentina's. There are many unknown lands, who are still virgins. As a photographer, I thought it was an adventure and a unique project. It's a trip I made only. My job is to learn and understand the world through photography. I found a good subject for trying to understand what they had felt the first inhabitants of the land.

-He says he made the journey alone, but I guess along the way many people would know.

-Yes, clear. When traveling alone just to meet people, at least in my case. During the trip, I met many people who were hitchhiking and when he had car, the gathering and was going home. He had nothing else to do. And thanks to this, I know these people and understand how their lives. Traveling alone also helps in the self. You learn to get along with yourself.
